Weekend Plans – Rain or Shine

What to do this weekend?

The weather report for Chapel Hill is mixed. We may be looking at a wet weekend.

With that in mind – I am trying to plan for fun – rain or shine.

Rain or Shine our Saturday morning is going to be the same:

We are starting our Saturday really early this week.  First, we are running over to the Carrboro Farmers’ Market to stock up on our favorite fruits and veggies. (Cannot forgot to grab a loaf of Imagine that Gluten Free bread for the week).

From there we are heading to Raleigh for the Gluten Free & Allergen Free Expo. It is not everyday that we can go explore (and let the kids sample) different foods at an event. Check out all the local companies planning to attend! I am also planning to attend some of the presentations.

If it rains:

The rest of our weekend will be spent reading and doing art (two of the favorites in this household).

Reading inspirations may include a trip to one of these two favorite stops for us: Flyleaf Books and the Chapel Hill Public Library. For the artists in the crowddon’t forget about the banned books art deadline.

We may pop over to the Ackland Art Museum  for the Tween Drawing Program.

If it doesn’t rain (or even if it is just a light rain):

We are going to head out for a little local fun and go to the opening weekend of Paperhand Puppet Intervention at the Forest Theatre. This is a yearly treat!

And of course, we will be heading on our bikes to Weaver Street Market.

It’s also time again for the 2nd Friday Artwalk, one of our favorite local events in the area. There are 16 locations on the tour this week! Explore these galleries, shops and venues in Chapel Hill and Carrboro and experience great local art. There will also be live music at JRJ Designs Studio & Gallery, Johnny’s Gone Fishing and Steel String Brewery.
